Unit Secretary Med-Surg FT Evenings/Nights

Lafayette Regional Health Center is a 25-bed acute care facility that is deeply rooted in the community it serves. Lafayette Regional includes all new private rooms with private baths, state-of-the art imaging and testing services, a full range of general and laparoscopic surgeries, wellness programs, and rehabilitation services. With a broad range of services, nearly 20 medical specialties are covered at Lafayette Regional.
Lafayette Regional Health Center is currently looking for a Full-time Night Unit Secretary to work on our Med-Surg Unit 4pm-12:00am.
JOB OVERVIEW: The Unit Clerk performs general clerical duties by preparing, compiling and maintaining records in a patient care unit. Acts as the receptionist for the unit and is responsible for the telephone system. The Unit Clerk works closely with the Charge Nurse and cooperatively with other nursing personnel for the delivery of high quality patient care. Is tactful and courteous in personal contacts and telephone conversations. Displays cooperation and courtesy in dealing with patients, visitors, Medical Staff, and personnel from all departments. Main goal is to increase patient satisfaction through improved continuity of care.
Qualifications:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Should be familiar with the routines and records of the unit. Must have tact and diplomacy. Hospital experience preferred. Computer/typing skills and minimum of basic medical terminology required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
BCLS certification required and current. Excellent interpersonal communication skills; legible handwriting, typing skills.
Displays appropriate telephone etiquette.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
