OR Technician Full-time (On-call Rotation Required)

Lafayette Regional Health Center is a 25-bed acute care facility that is deeply rooted in the community it serves. Lafayette Regional includes all new private rooms with private baths, state-of-the art imaging and testing services, a full range of general and laparoscopic surgeries, wellness programs, and rehabilitation services. With a broad range of services, nearly 20 medical specialties are covered at Lafayette Regional. Lafayette Regional Health Center is currently looking for a Full-time Surgical (OR) Tech, (on-call rotation required).
The OR Surgical Technologist performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients. The tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures

  • Prepares sterile instrument table and surgical fields

  • Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique

  • Assists the surgical team with procedures which may include passing instruments, sponges, and sutures

  • Assists with maintaining a clean work area and room turnover

  • Assists with instrument reprocessing/sterilization as needed

  • Assists with patient care as directed by the surgical team

  • Orients and mentors new staff members or students

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
    Qualifications:
    Graduate of a formal Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training. Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
    Experience with general surgery, gynecological, and orthopedic procedures. BLS required upon hire . Detail-oriented with ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
