Patient Services Rep PRN

Lafayette Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Services Representative :
JOB OVERVIEW: T he Patient Services Representative functions as the receptionist for all clinic services and visitors. Duties and responsibilities include registration, appointment calls, inputting charges, and follow-up to insurance / billing issues. General knowledge of HMO/PPO/MC-Plus insurance and government insurance programs. Is tactful and courteous in personal contacts and telephone conversations. Displays cooperation and courtesy in dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, and all clinic staff. Works closely with the Coordinator and cooperatively with other clinic personnel for the delivery of quality patient care. Accepts responsibility for completing any other tasks as needed or as requested by the Office Coordinator. May include CPT coding / ICD-10 coding or review of the appropriateness of, filing and referrals for continued care.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Prefer two years related experience in a medical business office or registration area. Should be familiar with medical terminology. Basic ICD-10 and CPT - 4 knowledge.
Basic Life Support certification. (May be obtained within one month of employment)
Good patient/physician relationship skills; good communication skills (both telephone and verbal)
Typing and computer skills; familiarity with computerized billing systems or software.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
